BEN POPPLETON

Ben Poppleton, a distinguished black belt, stands as a seminal figure in the evolution of British martial arts. As a historic pioneer of the sport, he earned the rare distinction of being the first British-born practitioner to be awarded a black belt directly from the legendary Gracie family. His journey represents a direct connection to the roots of the gentle art, tracing a prestigious lineage from Mitsuyo Maeda and Carlos Gracie Sr. down through Carlos Gracie Jr., bridging the gap between the storied mats of Rio de Janeiro and the competitive landscape of the United Kingdom. Beyond his accolades, Poppleton is defined by a relentless commitment to the technical purity and philosophy of the discipline. Now based in Costa Adeje, he continues to shape the next generation of grapplers with the same rigor and dedication that characterized his own rise through the ranks. His career remains a testament to the transformative power of Jiu-Jitsu, and he looks toward the future with an unwavering focus on mentoring his students and furthering the legacy of the Gracie tradition in his adopted home.
